Карел Вацлав (4.1.1859, Лазне-Белоград, - 8.7.1926, Прага), чешский писатель. Окончил учительский институт в Йичине (1877). Начал печататься в 80-х гг. Главная тема творчества - жизнь чешской деревни (сборники "Выминкаржи", 1891; "Среди людей", "Полупаны", оба - 1898, и др.). В повестях "Заброшенные патриоты" (1893) и "Закат" (1896) изображена культурно-просветительская деятельность сельских учителей и низшего духовенства в период национального возрождения. Роман "О пропавшем сапожнике" (1920) повествует о трудной жизни населения Подкрконошского края, о национальном гнёте. Р. развивал реалистические традиции в чешской литературе.
